Help Center/Maintenance/The Cost Estimator

The Cost Estimator

Get a cost estimate before starting a job — based on similar past projects and industry benchmarks.

The Cost Estimator (Maintenance → Estimator) lets you describe a job and get an estimated cost range before you dispatch or approve it.

Creating an Estimate

Click + New Estimate, describe the work (e.g., "Step cracking in interior CMU walls and vertical/diagonal cracks around window and door openings"), and Inspectr returns a recommended cost range.

How Estimates Are Built

The estimate is built from two sources:

  • Your internal average from similar past projects
  • Inspectr's broader benchmark from comparable jobs across its data

You'll see both numbers alongside the recommended range.

Understanding the Reasoning

Below the estimate, Inspectr explains the reasoning:

  • How many similar projects it compared
  • What job types they fell under
  • What typical pricing looks like for this scope

Vendor Recommendations

It also surfaces comparable local vendors with ratings, reviews, project count, and a description of why each vendor is a good fit for this specific job.

Tip: Your recent estimates are saved in the left panel so you can reference them later.
